This book is for the politically active, the unaffiliated with political views, as well as those with a passing interest in current affairs. Firstly, it is argued herein that politics is nothing other than a game of legitimacy. Secondly, it is demonstrated that players involved in public life, debates, and conflicts employ a two–sided strategy. ‘Our’ side struggle heroically for time–honoured principles, or archai (singular, arché). ‘They,’ on the other hand, are addicted to force and fraud, i.e., power or kratos. This strategy is necessary to support legitimate title. However, there is a ‘twist.’ This ‘twist’ explains why the game of legitimacy and politics is perpetual. All political players must use, or intend to use, coerciveness to develop or consolidate authority and can always be accused of fraud. Thus, sides in the eternal struggle open themselves up to criticism, defeat, overthrow, and elimination by their adversaries in the game of legitimacy.
