He established himself as a skilled portraitist and spread his prolific public monumental work for more than six decades through competitions and government commissions. Later in his career, he incorporated an abstract style in his sculptures. Although the artist was born in Spain, a country from which he was exiled for personal and political reasons at the end of the civil war, he chose Mexico in 1942 as his adoptive nation where he advanced his artistic vocation. While he never returned to Spain and resided in Mexico until his death in 1979, he always felt a deep love for both countries. In this book, Ángel’s son, Carlos Tarrac, presents information about the life and work of the sculptor within a historical and cultural context including his interactions with colleagues and other people.
